A small selection of some of our favourite wedding venues around Ireland.

Posted on Wednesday, 03 February 2016

In no particular order we have listed below some of our favourite wedding destinations around Ireland. We could mention many more but these venues stand out to us for particular reasons. Be it how they feel on a sun drenched day in September as you stare across into familiar city-scapes or how the dew filled trees awaken all of your senses on a misty winter’s morning.  These venues offer a fine setting for even the most particular of couples. Seeing the venue before and after, knowing what goes on behind the scenes, getting to know the food, staff and customs have narrowed our selection down to these few beautiful venues.

 1: Powerscourt Hotel

Powerscourt sets the standard in romantic elegance. From bridal showers at afternoon tea to spirited Martini party nights, Powerscourt offers the most comprehensive wedding service creating uniquely perfect wedding experiences in Ireland.

The 400 guests Ballroom is a distinctive, spacious wedding venue with an impressive four-metre crystal chandelier and silk wall coverings. Wedding menus are designed by internationally acclaimed chef, Gordon Ramsay, allowing couples a variety of delicious dishes.

The Secret Garden, a stunning wedding venue located adjacent to the ballroom, is a hidden oasis of beauty - the perfect back drop for wedding photos or an integral part of your wedding ceremony.

Offering 200 guest rooms including 93 suites, Powerscourt features a signature restaurant with commanding views of The Sugar Loaf Mountain. The hotel is also home to ESPA, a luxury spa with 21 treatment rooms and a 20-metre Swarovski crystal-lit pool.

2: Lough Rynn Castle, Mohill, Co.Leitrim

The Lough Rynn Castle is said to be one of the most luxurious Castle Hotels in Ireland.  It once was the home of the Clements family and the legendary Lord Leitrim. The entire estate comprises over 300 acres of an Ireland that is peaceful, rich in history and charmed with natural beauty.

5. Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin

The elegant hotel is located in the middle of magnificent surroundings on St. Stephen’s Green in Dublin’s city center. The five-star wedding venue in Dublin provides the perfect backdrop for a wedding and is the ideal place to build lifelong memories.

4: Kilruddery

Just on the outskirts of Bray lies the historic estate of Killruddery, the seat of one of Ireland’s last truly aristocratic families - the Earl and Countess of Meath. The house is a Victorian Gothic revival mansion built on the site of a much older house, and it boasts one of the most romantic rooms in the country - the Orangery. Newly available for ceremonies and events, this is a space to behold.  After dinner in the orangery, a candle lit path takes your guests to the grain store, through part of the 17th century gardens. In the grain store you can let loose and have a really great party in the 18th century barn conversion facing into a beautiful courtyard. So you’ll have the best of both worlds, grand reception, party par excellence in a space you can make your own.

5: Durnhamstown Castle

Renowned for its Friday night Posh Nosh Club, Durhamstown Castle has earned its place among the places to escape for a culinary retreat in Ireland, and now they are opening up their doors (and lawns) to weddings with a difference. This 600 year old tower house is nestled in the quiet countryside of Meath, outside Navan (just a skip away from Dublin on the N3), and is perfect for those looking for an intimate wedding location with the emphasis on good food and warm atmosphere. For those with a larger guest list, the gardens provide a perfect setting for a marquee and you know the food would be second to none.

6: The K Club: Co. Kildare

The K Club is one of the most stunning wedding venues in Ireland. Located in Straffan, Co. Kildare on the banks of the River Liffey, this five star hotel is surrounded by 550 acres of mature woods, parkland and formal gardens. It is the ultimate luxury wedding venue for perfect wedding photographs.

The K Club Resort caters for both large and lavish weddings and smaller intimate affairs. The Legacy Suite, The Arnold Palmer Room, The John Jefferson Smurfit Room and The Pantheon Suite all offer various options and can cater from just 14 wedding guests right up to parties of 350.
